Farmington Outing July 17th to 20th 2025
In memory of our friend and longtime TGF president, Bert Darrow, we are eager again to return to Connecticut and this beautiful tailwater, with 2,000 trout per mile. This was Bert’s favorite outing, a July weekend on the Farmington, just before going to visit Bob Jacklin in Montana. While fishing in July can be tough, the cool 50s-60s water temperatures on the Farmington will ensure the sulfurs are plentiful.
We have reserved two houses, one that has river access and the other in nearby Barkhamstead. Between both places we have room for 8 individuals. (Please note we are short on privacy, but we will mostly be fishing). Single occupancy costs $300 for all nights (we cannot do partial stays); this includes a donation of $50 to the Conservation Fund. Food costs will be roughly $40 to $70 per person, depending on what and how much we cook. In July, the best fishing is early and late in the day. You can fish on your own schedule, but we will be making light early dinners. We will also provide breakfasts you can make at the residences, plus snacks, and soft beverages. Lunch is on your own.
While we will not be having our Members’ Lunch this year, all are invited for dinner on Saturday. We just need you to let us know ahead of time so that we can arrange to have enough food. So even if you don’t stay with us, come for the day, fish with us and learn more about the river, then you can join us for dinner. Just let us know!
As a reminder, TGF doesn’t provide adult beverages at outing events or residences. You are welcome to bring your own; many will share their bounty with all.
