TGF stands out among conservation organizations in its activism on conservation issues and for nearly 60 years has been a sought-after advisor and partner for local and national conservation organizations on environmental issues and action, alerting both the general public and the angling community to critical new environmental issues.

The Bert Darrow fund for Legal Defense supports parties to litigation whose positions align with TGF’s conservation mission. TGF is also committed to seeking opportunities to become involved in legal actions on behalf of our members where our stake as sportsmen and sportswomen in a healthy, productive cold-water fishery is threatened.

TGF supports the education of future conservation activists. Donations to the Founders Fund are restricted to the support of the TGF Founders Fund Scholarships for postgraduate studies in environmental law and environmental sciences.

The Theodore Gordon Flyfishers, Inc. Founders Fund Scholarship, established in the name of TGF’s founders, is an annual academic merit scholarship of $5,000 awarded to exceptional graduate students in an environmental program of studies such as cold-water fisheries management, environmental law, environmental policy, aquatic biology, natural resource management, and hydrology, among others. Recipients must have demonstrated excellence and outstanding dedication to environmental conservation through a field of study that falls within an environmental field of a school or department.
