TGF invites all members to join us from October 13 to October 16 as we spend the weekend on the banks of the Beaverkill in the Catskills. Prospective members and friends are invited to Join us on Saturday, October 14, for a day of fishing, food, drink, discussion, education, and equipment demos.
SATURDAY: Saturday, October 14, will be a day of fun, contests, a new membership drive, and welcoming old and new members. We may have some demonstrations of gear, perhaps some manufacturer visits, some expert fly tying, and perhaps some casting tune-ups and bamboo discussions by our resident experts. (Details to follow in September.)
RSVP: Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to join us. Also, if you are bringing guests, please send us their names.
THE FISHING: TGF has a long history with the Beaverkill, the Willowemoc, and other Catskill streams. We will channel that history and its traditions, as well as employing many of the new techniques that have been created in Theodore Gordon’s home region. We expect many of our long-term members, especially our president, Bert Darrow, to introduce us to many spots where we will catch some of the great Catskill trout. What could be better than fishing with friends while watching the leaves change at Painters Bend? Members may also join together on their own to arrange a drift-boat trip sometime over the weekend on the famed West Branch of the Delaware.
ACCOMMODATIONS: For those who want to make a weekend of it or just to stay overnight, we have reservations for 10 members or guests at Tight Lines North, situated along the lower Beaverkill River in East Branch, NY, three-quarters of a mile from its junction with the East Branch of the Delaware. The location is only 15 minutes back to Roscoe, 10 minutes to Hancock, and only a minute from the lower and upper East Branch. Visit https://goo.gl/uTVhe3 for more information.
The cost for lodging will be $128 per person for the weekend, or a maximum of $200 per person if we have only six members or guests from Friday to Monday morning. (You must pay for the entire weekend, but you don’t need to stay the whole weekend if you can’t.)
Contact Avram at membership@TGF.org for more information and to arrange payment. If more people are interested than can be accommodated in the Tight Lines cabin or you are looking for more privacy, there are many other lodging options in the area.
FOOD: We would also ask that members joining us contribute $30 per day for food on the days they attend, including those who join only for the day. Note: TGF doesn’t provide alcohol at any of its fishing events but you may bring your own.
LICENSES: A valid New York State fishing license is required: http://www.dec.ny.gov/permits/6091.html
LOCAL FLY SHOPS: Choose from many local Roscoe and UDR stalwarts.
Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.
